How do Yuja Video Quizzes differ, advantages or disadvantages, from putting a tests/quiz in blackboard?
Kelly
45:45
thanks!
sherri.stastny
46:30
you can also use Yuja to record test taking to hold students accountable to NOT use "open book"
lorna olsen
48:00
@Sheri: Yes, instructors can require the YuJa exam proctoring option - with this option, students must have a webcam, a mic and a desktop or laptop computer so their environment is recorded while they are taking the exam.

Where is the best place to find information on how to do discussion boards, blogs, and wikis?
Shar

@Kendall this is a good place

it will go through all the communication tools in bb
Shar

Bb = Blackboard :)

01:00:54
Blackboard's Help (help.blackboard.com) also has some good resources on the "How tos", but also good pedagogical resources for these tools as well.

Introduction to TurningPoint WebWednesday, August 5, 1-2 p.m.TurningPoint Web allows students to participate in ‘clicker’ questions using their mobile devices from either the face-to-face classroom or remote locations. @Kelly, we are just getting Zoom integrated with Bb. I don't think that Zoom or Bb collaborate polling creates flash cards for students.

Use it all the time! Huge time saver!! Takes a while to set them up, but once done it can be re-used and modified easily.

I would love to take attendance, but I have 350 students in my intro classes. How would I make this possible and see that students have attended without making this part of the grading? How could I do this easily rather than look through every name/student. Is there a way it could highlight students for me that did not attend class?
sherri.stastny
01:11:00
even for asynchronous, I do small 2-step assignments each week to hold students accountable for "attendance" (or participation in the class)

TP for Web training - 1-2 PM today.
Kelly
01:12:13
Can sheri share an example of her 2 step assignment?
Leretta Smith
01:12:28
TP will not work for me. Is there another option for seeing those who do NOT attend/listen to lecture?
sherri.stastny
01:12:43
watch a short video, then complete related assignment such as "healthy fats" from American heart
Kelly
01:13:23
Thanks

Oh good, thank you. I just do not have time to grade over 1000 a day
Svetlana V Kilina
01:17:50
Any suggestions on the situation when students use excuse of having technical problems during the exam to change the ir grade?
Leretta Smith
01:18:48
would it be better to use quiz that can be graded, or is there are an option that if the students answer a discussion board question, it can mark them as having completed the question?
Svetlana V Kilina
01:19:56
Thank you!
Shar
01:19:57
@leretta for your class of 350 a quiz would be good for you. you could use a discussion board you would need to rewview for each student and then apply the points
Lydia Tackett
01:22:03
You can get a record of the answers they did so far
Lydia Tackett
01:22:09
